Hello and Welcome to My Web-page!
My name is Tara Venuti and I am the Reading Specialist here at the Thoreau Elementary school. I am certified as both a speech-language pathologist and reading teacher and have worked in various
settings including acute care hospitals, rehabilation facilities, and private practices. But my heart is in the schools, working with children. When I first began here in 2004, I worked as a speech-language therapist at both the Willard and Thoreau elementary schools. It was wonderful meeting and working with the students and staff at both of these buildings! However, when the reading specialist postion at Thoreu became available, I sent in my application and interviewed. I was overjoyed to be offered this postion and began working as the reading specialist for the 2006/2007 school year.
Along with teaching, I enjoy spending time with my two children. I also love singing and performing, playing guitar and banjo, backpacking, hiking, and rock climbing with my husband, gardening outdoors, feeding and watching birds, playing games, and enjoying time with friends.
I produced and recorded a CD called Sing A Spell. This collection of songs pairs fact with music, to help children remember basic reading and language facts.
